Supreme Session 2009

On July 25, 2009 AGG Bob and his family set out on a trip headed towards Supreme Session 2009 in Richmond Virginia. Before going there he had to go through North Carolina to see that his daughter Angela got home with her two children. After laying on the beach for a couple of days he headed to Washington DC with Judy, Chris, Shawndi and Renee.
On August 1, 2009 GG Connie and PGG Tracy set out to Supreme Session 2009 with Mariah, Hayley, Ashlee, Oleta and Anna. Kate, Raegan and Brenda set out from Lawrence and Carolyn set out from KC.
Day 1 - The plan was to spend two days in Washington, DC seeing the sites and doing the tourist thing. Boy were they tourists!
Open air bus.
Wiaiting for the bus.

Day 2 - Well, we made it!  Yesterday we met up with Bob, Judy, Chris, Shawndi and Renee and we headed to DC for the afternoon.  We reserved these two day passes for this hop on/hop off bus and we just got on and enjoyed the 2 hour tour.  Then today we got up and headed back down to DC.  It was a great day other than it was hot, humid and raining.  We did lots of walking and hopping on/off the bus!  We finally got home about 10:00 made some dinner for everyone (thanks Ashlee) and now I am typing this while waiting for laundry to dry and the others ... well they are probably in bed!

Tomorrow we are headed to Richmond to check in, get registered and begin our Supreme experience.  We will keep you posted as the week goes on and will try to get some pictures sent to you too.

Day 3 - We're in Richmond!  Today was yet another adventure, which according to Ashlee, will be funny tomorrow!  We were getting ready to head to Richmond when Ashlee and Tracy realized that the car I was driving had a flat.  After 2 hours of messing with the rental car company we got a new car and were back on the road!

When we got to the hotel, the girls went to the Jobie Congress and seemed to find the discussion interesting.  I will have them tell you about it in future posts.  While they were in there Tracy, Chris and I unloaded the car and got the suitcases up in the rooms.  The girls are in 701 and we are in 703.  We have seen Carolyn but haven't seen Judy Masters yet.  I just had a visit in the lobby from Kate and Raegan and they are on a search for the pool!

Tomorrow is Ritual Competitions and the HIKE Dance. I will try to forward pictures soon!

Day 4 - Tuesday

Day 5 - Ok, so Chris says my posts are boring ... so I hope I can add some excitement for all of you!

TODAY IS WEDNESDAY ... Oh my what a fun day we have had!  Tracy and I each had a breakfast to attend this morning ... mine was with the GG & AGG with the VSG & VASG ... Tracy's was for Royal Purple.  I had a great time chatting it up with the other GG's & AGG's.  As I chewed my food that I ate with my fork, knife and spoon I enjoyed conversations and my glass of orange juice :)

Then we were off to the SGC meeting ... oh my what a blast!  We did reports, escort and introductions and I might have closed my eyes for a minute or two!  However, even with my eyes closed I was paying attention to every detail!  Then we went to lunch with the girls and Jolene, Sandy and Lily from Missouri and it was so good.  I had some cottage pie and let me tell you ... it was pretty darn good!  I think the girls enjoyed their food.  While we were at lunch Tracy was putting one foot in front of the other on the treadmill at the hotel.  So, we brought her food back.

In the afternoon, Tracy, Bob, Judy, Carolyn and I were back in the SGC meeting.  They had treats for us to eat when we got in there which consisted of pretzels, corndogs, cookies, popcorn, cracker jacks, soda, juice, water.  So as we ate our snacks, paying attention to every moment, we stared with the amendments.  Bob and Judy and their old eyes were having issues keeping track of the group of amendments that either passed or failed as a group.  My young eyes helped them along.

Chris took our girls and her girls to a "thing" and she got them "misplaced".  Of course she won't admit that to you but if you can't turn left at the yellow house Chris doesn't know how to get there.

Tonight was formal opening ... it was good.  It seemed to go pretty fast.  It started at 7:45 and was over about 10:00.  Then we headed to a pizza party that Missouri was having that we invited ourselves to join.  Thanks to our friends from the east for welcoming us to their party!  I am sure if you read Ashley's diary from this week you will see us in a shot or two!

Well, it is 1:08a.m. and the Supreme Bethel meeting starts at 7:00 a.m. so I guess I will call it a night.  Tomorrow is the drawing in the morning and the pageant in the evening.  I will keep you all posted!

From Chris:

Mom and I took the girls to Maymount Park today.  It's a victorian homestead.  There was lots of walking and it was HOT out.  We didn't get to see the mansion because we had to leave.  The only thing we really got to see was the children's farm.  It was of course at the back part of the homestead and we didn't even get to pet the animals.  We had planned on going to the Edgar Allan Poe museum, but we ran out of time.  We should have just gone to the museum vs the park, oh well.

Look at those monkeys in the tree!

Day 6 - Ok, here goes ...

We all JUMPED out of bed this morning in time to be at a 7:00 meeting ... well, you know me ... there was no jump.  Tracy had to keep telling me the time and that I had to put my feet on the floor!  The meeting was awesome!  The SBHQ Jenna did a FANTASTIC job ... one of the best I have seen in a LONG time!  Ashlee was drawn out as SB Guide; Anna SB Rep to Idaho and Raegan was drawn out as Rep to Santa Catarina.  They are all really excited!

Then the girls went to the All Job's Daughters luncheon and Tracy, Bob and I went for a power nap!  Mariah did a GREAT job and made us VERY PROUD at the Miss International Pageant

What a day for all of us.  So, I will admit something to you ... I am having some issues driving in this city.  I CANNOT wrap my head around this place.  Everytime I venture out I get "misplaced".  It is making me so MAD!  But I hear today that I am rubbing off on Bob as he got "misplaced" today!  Chris can drive here which is CRAZY because she cannot even drive around Wichita without getting lost but she can handle Richmond ... seriously!

Well that is all for today.  I am tired and ready for bed!!

Day 8 -The girls say that Saturday was their favorite day … we headed to Virginia Beach that morning and spent the day there.  It was lots of fun shopping, walking in the sand and playing in the ocean.  It was a great day and hard to leave when it was time to get back.

So again, I will admit that I spent a good portion of time “misplaced” in Richmond.  I don’t like to say I was lost … just “misplaced”.  On Wednesday night when we went to the pizza party with Missouri, we were 5 blocks max from our hotel and about an hour later I got back!  I don’t know what my problem was … maybe the company or snoring was just too good in the cars!
All in all Supreme Session 2009 was a week full of memories and some I will never forget!
